The team at Austin’s Funeral Directors is proud to announce our Charity of the Year for 2026: Garden House Hospice Care. This amazing charity works tirelessly to support its local community.

Based in Letchworth, Herts, Garden House Hospice Care helps patients and their families facing the hard reality of life-limiting illness. Since opening its doors in 1990, the dedicated care teams have been providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care across North Hertfordshire and surrounding communities.
Now, more than ever, Garden House Hospice Care needs our support. It is currently facing a £750,000 funding shortfall, directly impacting care services.
The incredible work of Garden House Hospice Care is built around compassionate and holistic support, involving:
- Specialist care – From the moment someone is referred, experienced clinical teams provide expert symptom management, pain relief and personalised care. Whether in the hospice, at home or in the community, their focus is always on comfort, dignity and quality of life.
- Family support – A life-limiting diagnosis affects the whole family. Garden House Hospice Care offers practical guidance, emotional support and counselling to help loved ones cope during incredibly difficult times.
- Care at home – Many patients wish to remain in familiar surroundings. The hospice’s community nursing teams provide hands-on care and support in patients’ homes, helping families feel confident and supported.
- Wellbeing services – From physiotherapy and occupational therapy to complementary therapies and spiritual care, Garden House Hospice Care’s services are designed to support the whole person, physically and emotionally.
- Bereavement support – Compassionate bereavement services are available to families both before and after the loss of a loved one, helping people navigate grief.
The team at Austin’s will be working closely with Garden House Hospice Care throughout the year to maximise fundraising opportunities. We’ve scheduled support throughout the year via sponsorship, donations and event participation.
