Austin’s Funeral Directors is celebrating once again having scooped its second prestigious business award in as many months.
The family-run firm, which has branches throughout North and East Herts, beat off strong competition to win the Most Successful Medium Business category at the Hertfordshire Business Awards. Claire Austin, who is the tenth generation of her family to run the business, picked up the award at a glittering ceremony hosted by Paul Ross (brother of the infamous Jonathan) at Knebworth Barns.
Speaking afterwards a delighted Claire said: “I am so thrilled that Austin’s has won this award which is testament to the incredible service each and every one of our staff provides. We really do work hard to provide a personal, caring service and it’s wonderful when those efforts are officially recognised.”
Commenting on their decision the judges said: “Austin’s is a family run business that has been in existence and headquartered from the same site in Stevenage for over 300 years. They now have 8 branches in Hertfordshire. The business is run by Claire Austin (MD) whose pride and enthusiasm for her family’s achievements is very evident. We were particularly impressed to learn that unable to obtain local authority funding the company used their own funds to buy land and build a state of the art crematorium and memorial gardens in Stevenage known as Harwood Park.”
The ceremony was attended by hundreds of people representing the county’s leading businesses. Entertainment was provided by The Singing Waiters from “Opera on the Run” and a casino, auction and raffle raised over £4,000 for nominated charity Help for Heroes.
The casino had many card games and the entertainment provided was just wonderful, the there was a aztec slot machine at the casino just like the aztec slot machine at EasyMobileCasino.com and many enjoyed playing that game.
In October, Austin’s won the Service Excellence category at the East of England Business Champions Awards.
