Funeral and memorial services will once again be held in the chapel at Stotfold Cemetery following a major refurbishment of the building.
The chapel, which is situated in the Mill Lane cemetery, has been leased by Austins and we have spent several months restoring the interior of the chapel and are looking forward to making it available to the public once again.
Claire Austin said: “The lease of the chapel came up and we thought it offered the perfect opportunity to sympathetically restore it and make it accessible to the public. We plan to use it as a Chapel of Rest and it is also perfect for small funeral services prior to interment in the cemetery or before the committal of the deceased at other local crematoria.”
Austin’s is also looking at the possibility of using the chapel for small memorial services and candlelit Christmas carol services.
“I know many people in the area are pleased the Chapel is being restored and we hope to hold an open afternoon once the work is finished,” said Claire.
